    Description

"SHOOTING THE WAR--MEMOIRS OF A WORLD WAR II U-BOAT OFFICER" is the incredible war diary of Otto Giese, a junior officer aboard both U-405 and U-181. His diary begins at the beginning of WWII as a junior officer aboard the ocean liner "SS Columbus" and continues through his confinement in a British POW camp after the war. Much of this book is on his time with U-Boats and includes some 100 personal photographs he took with his Leica camera. Interestingly, one of his sons is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy having served in the Gulf War.
Book is HARDBACK with DUSTJACKET published in 1994. It is a "FIRST PRINTING", is in NEAR MINT CONDITION, measures 6 1/8" x 9 1/8" and contains 289 pages with some 100 personal photographs throughout.
