    Description

This is a Stunning Vintage Navajo Handmade Wilbur Wauneka Storyteller Sterling Belt. It measures 39” length x 1 1/4” width (leather belt not sterling panels) and weighs a whopping 400 grams! This is an incredible handmade storyteller belt crafted by Navajo Wilbur Wauneka, who shows his exceptional attention to detail. Each of the ten panels (including buckle) has a different depiction of a scene on each, beginning with the buckle, telling a story of a man on his horse herding cattle, while the next scene shows a woman skinning a hide and a landscape of their domain on the next and so on (see all pictures for each scene). All of the scenes don incredible hand-stamped borders along with etched, stamped, engraved and overlay features. This is the culmination of handiwork wrought only by a master silversmith such as Wilbur Waineka. Each of the concho panels are the same size, measuring 2 1/8” width x 3” length. It is signed with the artist’s hallmark on the backside of the buckle “WW” and is marked sterling. The buckle can latch into one of five different holes. This is a one-of-a-kind museum quality piece that is truly a piece of Native American wearable art. You will not find many out there like this one; happy bidding!
