Although exclusively a daytime social hub, the Cloud Club seemed “to its early members to be an Art Deco Shangri- La,” according to The New York Times. This powerhouse luncheon club occupied the highest perch in the world, and while Prohibition was still in effect, the Cloud Club offered private cabinets for executives who needed a place to store their liquor. And for the city's executives who took their power lunches seriously, drinks were served in crystal glasses, with patterning designed to mimic the stylized sunburst motif of the Chrysler Building's terraced crown.
