    Description

    Conn 40H Trombone
    Silver with Gold-wash Bell
    SN: 227800 produced in 1927
    Plays Great ! Reconditioned !
Great playing and looking Trombone from 1927.  This horn plays really well.  It comes in it's original reconditioned case.
    Instrument Specifics:
Nice buttery tone but it can be pushed to get some sizzle for Jazz.  Seriously this is a good sounding horn.
7" Inch Bell. .500 inch bore #3 in Conn terms.
Slide works great.  Generally I find oils work better on these vintage slides.  I can't really see any wear on the stockings.
The silver finish looks really good.  It has some wear at contact points but very good for a horn this old.
Upon close inspection it's had some medium to minor dents removed with a some minor wrinkles and scars still in the finish.  A few really minor dents remain.  Don't read this wrong this is a good looking horn.  I've tried to identify all the issues in the photos.
This horn has tuning in slide, TIS. The purpose of TIS was to bell move the bell closer to the player making mute changes easier. The tuning slide moves well but this horn has a flaw.  One of the tuning slide legs had to be shortened because the end was compromised.  This does not affect the playing of the horn at all and is typically hidden from view. The tuning slide is plenty long to be in tune without reaching the shortened area.
The case is the original.  It's been reconditioned.  It is solid and looks good but it is not perfect. Upon close inspection the outside of the case appears to have had some water damage at one time since the texture is mostly gone from the covering on one end.
A standard small shank trombone mouthpiece works well.
These is a vintage instrument. It plays great, looks great and has a lot of character but it is not new from the factory.
You won't go wrong purchasing this fantastic instrument !
